The state of the humanities is often characterized as being in crisis, but the language of crisis often draws attention away from the vibrancy and generative power of the humanities. For the Humanities is IHGC’s flagship lecture series that brings scholars to UVA who have recently published significant work on the past, present, and future of the humanities. These lectures serve as invitations for conversation and community across the many disciplinary domains of humanistic inquiry, asking us to reflect on our institutions and practices. We are excited to think together about the futures, possibilities, and affordances of our collective work in the humanities.
