Digital Humanities
Scholars working in the digital humanities use digital and computational approaches to advance research and teaching in the humanities.
Islamic Worlds
The Islamic Worlds Initiative is a new project at UVA whose goal is to be a meeting point for scholars from around Grounds who are studying regions and/or communities where Islamic ways of life play an important role.
Environmental Humanities
EH@UVA advances methods and knowledges of the humanities in support of collaborative, multi-disciplinary approaches to environmental research.
The IHGC is committed to advancing scholarly inquiry in the humanities and interdisciplinary fields by supporting Emerging Initiatives like the ones listed above. Faculty members leading Emerging Initiatives work with the IHGC director to determine the unique trajectory for their initiative, which may include specialized academic programming, the development of research projects, curricular experiences, and more.
Emerging Initiatives are typically larger-scale projects than other IHGC Programs, such as Labs, and may develop into self-sustaining programs. For additional information on Emerging Initiatives, please contact Dr. Meg Homer.
