New IHGC Research Networks & Initiatives

The Institute of the Humanities and Global Cultures is excited to announce a new set of research networks and initiatives, beginning Fall 2023. Each group is listed below

Personhoods Initiative

What is a person? How do we understand personhood? The Personhoods Initiative is a new research network sponsored by IHGC that brings together scholars interested in how we extend moral and legal recognition within and across ontologies, taking up questions of race, gender, sexuality, animality, environmental ethics, planthood, artificial intelligence, and bioethics.

Oct. 12, 4-6 pm, Wilson 142: “The Plant At the End of the World: Invasive Species in the Anthropocene.” Lecture by Dr. Yota Batsaki, Harvard University and Dumbarton Oaks.

Games Lab & Reading Group

Games Lab is a new IHGC Lab that will explore phenomenologies of gaming experience, game design and data structure, AI environments, and critiques of gaming culture.

This series of events will feature scholars and their work on the ongoing question of futures, possibilities, and affordances within the study and disciplines of the humanities.
