**PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO A SCHEDULING CONFLICT, THE WORKSHOP HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FROM MARCH 20TH TO FEBRUARY 19TH AT NOON.
The Guru Granth Sahib is the primary scripture of the Sikhs. The text consists of 1,430 angs (pages) and 5,894 shabads (line compositions), which are poetically rendered and set to a rhythmic ancient north Indian classical form of music. The bulk of the scripture is divided into 31 main ragas. The hymns are drawn from different religious traditions and languages.
Participants in the workshop will read selected hymns with a focus on the significance of poetry and music in religion. The workshop will be particularly helpful to those planning to attend the concert, Colors of Spring in the Mystical Tradition, scheduled for Saturday, April 25th. Special guest, Mr. Sartaj Alag, will join to facilitate.
As space is limited, guests are asked to REGISTER in advance. This event is hosted by the IHGC’s Poetry, Mysticism, and Performance working group.
